MPH Building Systems have recently completed a modular classroom block for a special needs school.
Following a successful application for a Conditional Improvement Fund, the school were able to expand their current teaching capacity.
This was great news for the school as they were able to improve facilities and cater for increased pupil numbers in the future.
MPH were involved with the project from the pre-construction phase and worked with the school and their consultants to develop Employers Requirements within project budgets.
The Project Architect produced 3D visualisations and a schedule of accommodation which MPH developed in to an offsite solution and further demonstrating the adaptability of modular construction.
Internally the new modular classroom block included 8 classrooms, toilet facilities and an open atrium style group room.
Internal walls and ceilings were taped and filled and decorated to provide a traditional appearance and colour schemes to provide a tranquil environment for the pupils.
The completed project produced a highly efficient EPC with the installation of LED lighting and lighting controls, efficient gas fired water heating and a sophisticated HVAC system to heat and cool the building.
To satisfy planning constraints, traditional external cladding methods were used including a brick skin and insulated cladding.
A ground floor link was formed to create a weather tight transition from the main school building.
Further architectural features were added including a full powder coated brise soleil style canopy, aluminium rainwater goods and aluminium full height glazing.
MPH provided a full turnkey package completing the modular classroom block in 12 weeks
