How We Installed A Multi-Use Modular Classroom In Peterborough
Here is how to install a modular building! Read on and take a look at one of our recent projects, below – a day in the life of our innovative installations team. This step-by-step guide shows you how we typically complete our installations. In this case, it was for a much-needed multi-use modular classroom space at a school in Peterborough.
The first modular building load arrives onsite

The first step is getting each section of the modular building onsite. So using appropriate delivery vehicles, we move carefully through the car park towards a crane that we have already put in place.
The first modular building section on flatbed

We carefully prepare the first modular building section and remove the protective transport sheets. Next, we manoeuvre the transport vehicle into position so the crane can easily lift it.
Preparing the modular building for lifting

Once the modular building is in place, we connect the lifting tackle and blocks to the lifting points.
Crane lifting the modular building

Once everything is secured, we can lift the modular building clear of the wagon flatbed. And the crane takes the section up and over to it’s designated spot.
Modular section is laid on foundation pads

After being carefully lifted, the first section of the modular building is laid upon the pre-laid foundation pads at the furthest point, to allow for the rest of the sections.
Next sections connected to the modular build

The next section of the modular building repeats the loading process, arriving by transport flatbed, crane preparation and safe crane lifting into position. We then fit this prefabricated building section into place, connecting it to the first laid section.
Modular building section by section

After connecting section 2 to the first, the remaining sections of the bespoke modular building follow the same process. In this sectional building project, a total of 7 units were safely lifted and guided into place in the order we designed.
All the modular building sections are in place

The sectional modular building is in place once the final section is lowered and added to the build. And this 7-unit sectional building will now begin its final onsite fixes.
The modular building is installed

Finally, we remove the crane, and the new modular building is in situ. So now external construction, water-tight seals, roofing and finishing details are completed by our expert installers—afterwards, all the necessary internal work, final touches and decorating begins. Overall, the external structure is now efficiently installed.
