For many years, Girlguiding Norfolk was looking to provide a suitable building to house their extensive collection of archives after the original plan in 2009 for a brick-built building proved unaffordable when Heritage Lottery funding wasn’t granted.
The need became urgent as their current storage facilities became unsuitable, so they began to consider the idea of a modular building for cost savings.
MPH supplied, delivered, and installed a four-bay facility that included a secure fire-rated archive store, activity space, office, toilets, and a kitchen.
“After considering other suppliers, the option offered by MPH enabled us to have the controlled environment we needed for our archives, together with a multi-use activity space, for a price within our budget.”
The scheme included a full groundworks package and landscaping, including car parking spaces using reinforced plastic grids filled with granular material to achieve a natural approach to control surface water drainage.
The need for speedy construction with minimal disruption to the Activity Centre and the surrounding village was essential, and Lynn Rawlings, the County Administrator, appraised MPH, who was appointed to deliver this project:

The design of the finished building, with the addition of cedar cladding, fits well into the rural environments of our Activity Centre at Patteson Lodge and within the village of Coltishall.
