Project Description
Excellence In The Replacement Of Mobile Buildings
We hold almost 5 decades of experience in the safe demolition and replacement of mobile buildings. Perhaps this is one reason why William Law CE Primary School in Peterborough instructed us. They were facing access, economic and eco-efficiency issues with outdated mobile buildings. So, as part of a turnkey package, we removed their existing mobile classrooms and installed a bespoke replacement building.

The Turnkey Package For The Replacement Of Mobile Buildings
THE BRIEF
The school identified that their existing mobile classrooms were reaching the end of their useful lifespan. These classrooms, used for breakfast and after school clubs, had limited level access, so in addition to health and safety concerns, they were inaccessible to some students, parents and staff. Also, with outdated heating, lighting and technology, they were inefficient and expensive to run. They required replacement buildings.
Existing Mobile Buildings Demolition
The existing mobile classrooms were situated where the replacement buildings should be and needed to be removed to clear the space—making room for new facilities. So, following the architect’s 3D designs (see one below), we completed an entire turnkey project that included the safe demolition and disposal of the existing mobile buildings.
Mobile Building Construction, Design & Solutions
The school required additional space to allow clubs, student play areas, staff offices, teaching rooms and on-premise washrooms.
So, we designed, built off-site, then installed a new extensive modular space which included a large hall, kitchen, offices, toilets and group rooms. Ideal for before and after school clubs.
Eco-Efficient & Accessible Mobile Building Construction
To reduce running costs and improve energy efficiency, our replacement buildings included energy-efficient heating, LED lighting and the latest low-energy usage technology.
The modular sections were made sustainably off-site and installed at a time minimising school disruption.
Finally, to solve challenging access issues with steps, uneven walkways and limited level access, we designed the new facility to be fully accessible to comply with Building Regulations. Also, we carried out hard and soft landscaping to create a safe and secure level courtyard.
The Mobile Build Finish & Materials
The existing mobile buildings looked dated, and the client wanted a bold, vibrant and dynamic space to echo the school’s core values. So, working with their architect, we achieved this through bright colour details and striking architectural design. The new modular space complimented the school’s vision; “Learning Living Loving Together.” Finishing the building with vertical timber cladding and bright, contrasting window colour detailing.
The modular mobile building replacement, clad externally with timber, was a complete turnkey package. This included site clearance, foundations, and a new secure courtyard.
