Project Description
In April 2019 we completed construction of a modular sports pavilion for a tennis club in the North West. The tennis pavilion is used by both club members and a local academy school. MPH Building Systems worked with the project team to create a fantastic space for players and spectators to enjoy. The new clubhouse is complete with changing facilities, kitchen and bar area.
After receiving a grant from Cheshire LTA, the tennis club members chose to upgrade their existing changing facilities. In addition to the grant, funding was also provided by a local academy school. MPH Building Systems worked in collaboration with a team of project administrators and cost consultants, as well as the tennis club committee and academy representatives.
The project budget was limited and would not stretch to constructing a new pavilion using traditional building methods. After weighing up the pros and cons of refurbishing the existing building, the project team decided to construct a modular sports pavilion.
MPH Building Systems worked with architects and project managers to value engineer their designs. We came up with a solution to suit their budget. This covered the whole project; from demolition of the old pavilion through to construction, fitting out and landscaping for the new one.
Eco-friendly modular sports pavilion
We aimed to create a sustainable modular building to keep costs down across the lifetime of the tennis pavilion. Using energy-efficient materials and renewable technology, we were able to future-proof the project. PV panels were installed on the roof of the pavilion and the space heating comes from an air-source heat pump.
In choosing modular building methods, we ensured minimal impact on the tennis season. From taking possession of the old pavilion, it was only ten weeks before the new modular tennis pavilion was ready for use. During this time, we provided temporary storage facilities and toilets. Players could access the courts at all times while work was being carried out.
From demolition (including asbestos removal) to delivery, our team work to strict health and safety guidelines. All of our work complies with current building regulations. As part of this we included disabled/level access throughout the new sports pavilion.
Both the academy and tennis club were pleased with the final result. Their new modular sports pavilion provides excellent changing facilities and an airy, relaxing lounge area for everyone to enjoy!
"A first-class pavilion"
“MPH were very approachable and proactive during the construction which made our life that much easier. When the pavilion was finally handed over it seemed like no time at all since the start of proceedings.
We would like to thank MPH for providing us with a first-class pavilion. Our members, friends and visiting teams are all impressed with the pavilion and we look forward to a comfortable and successful future.” – Club Chairman
