Oak Lodge School in South London required a sensory room, library and additional classroom space for their complex young people. A school where their young people have Education, Health and Care Plans to receive specialised learning with highly skilled specialist staff and therapists. Minimal disruption was essential, and MPH fulfilled the two-stage project brief for initially new classrooms, a state-of-the-art sensory space and a modular library during the summer holidays. Next, a timely and smooth completion of their further classrooms for 6th form teaching, prefabricated library building and music therapy spaces.

Our new classrooms and library are finally completed and our post 16 Skills for Life students and teachers will be moving into their new base next week. Our library has begun to be used for music therapy and our dance / drama curriculum on Tuesdays. We still have to complete a few parts and develop our sensory room, but it is all very exciting. I would like to say a big thank you to all those who enabled this project to happen. Thanks go to Wandsworth for part funding, our contractors MPH Building Services and my business manager, IT administrator and site staff supporting the smooth progress.
Tuesday [November 7th 2023] saw the grand openings of 3 new buildings; the Girls’ residential Willow Wing, the Ash Library and the Maple 6th Form building. Thank-you to everyone who worked so hard to get funding for these wonderful new spaces including the team at Wandsworth, Des Jarrett, the governing board and the Wolfson Foundation.

The site was on sloped, uneven ground, presenting access problems.
We worked with Rapid Ramp to implement a fully compliant modular ramp system that enabled wheelchair access. This prefabricated wheelchair ramp was configured offsite and assembled on-site according to our client’s specifications.
The fully compliant ramp access was chosen due to its stringent safety measures, which meet the school’s health and safety criteria to minimise the risk of accidents and falls.
